It felt like the hills were chuckling as they puffed their cheeks with misty air and let it whistle out as gentle streams. The air felt moist. It looked moist. A reluctant fog hung throughout. An array of big light posts stood equidistant from each other, like unwavering soldiers in the dark of the night, rapt at their general's commands. Each one spilled yellow light around itself trying best to battle the dark. Where the sphere of one's influence began to end, the other took over.
It had huge deep-orange limbs, hundreds of them, some more powerful than others. It seemed like a giant - a gentle, lazy giant, droopy eyed, watching fondly as the vehicles rolled past its belly. The pond all around wasnt visible. It was probably too bashful. But the misty wind gave away its presence like a mischievious kid playing spoil sport.
As I slipped and slid on, it coughed a little. Maybe the chilly wind was giving it a cold. As it coughed again, this time with a bit more jolt, people exchanged nervous smiles and wiped the sweat off their cold foreheads. And then it happened. The beast gave the biggest sneeze that you ever could hear, like its nostrils were filled with chilli flakes. I could see the wave travel - like a giant snail trying to inch forward. The road in front crumbled like a crystal and pieces flew in all directions. Vehicles big and small got tossed around high and then came crashing down into the water. As it moved towards me, with grace, my mouth opened up a bit.
